Customer Service/Inside Sales
Burgon Tool Steel, a leading processor and distributor of specialty metals serving the tool and die industry is currently seeking a customer service/inside sales rep with strong selling and communication skills.
This position requires excellent verbal and communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a consistently high energy level and positive attitude. This position will also require you to have a general understanding of the metal fabrication industry as well as Burgon’s products, market approach and sales policies.
Responsibilities to include:
- Build thorough product knowledge of our products and a good knowledge of Burgon’s systems. Training will be provided.
- Use product knowledge to accurately quote prices.
- Up-sell products using features and benefits.
- Accurately process orders via phone, fax and email and execute customer requests.
- Think through complex situations and use good judgment to make decisions on how best to serve customers’ needs.
- Input pertinent information into Customer Relationship Management software to enable data mining for vertical product opportunities, competitive information and closing the communication loop with other teams.
- Develop Relationships with end user, channel partners and Burgon field sales team members.
The successful candidate will have:
- Math skills with strong attention to details.
- Good technical aptitude to understand and then sell the benefits of a technical product or service.
- The ability to work independently and make good business decisions in ambiguous situations.
- The ability to work in a team-based environment while possessing the ability to be self-driven and operate under minimal supervision.
- Excellent communication skills including the ability to interact via telephone in a positive manner with the customer.
- Intermediate computer skills with the ability to use Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Prior experience in sales and an aptitude for sales of technical products.
- High School graduate required and a 2 year College program or the equivalent of 4 years of new business development, lead generation, and telephone or general sales experience preferred.
